About The Role

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Operative to join the Estates team at Compass. As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance across our two school sites in Halifax.

This role requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to address any issues that arise in a timely manner and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake regular maintenance inspections and tasks to ensure our schools are safe and kept up to Compass standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues and perform necessary repairs as they arise.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks to minimise risk and disruption at operational homes and schools
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and replacements
  • Liaise with and oversee external contractors as required
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries and to ensure safe working on operational sites.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Operative or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of buildings and maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing & carpentry.
  • Basic understanding of building regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
  • A solid understanding of Safeguarding
  • Full clean UK Driving License
