Forensic Testing Service - Sample Preparation Laboratory Support
FTS is looking for an individual with a passion for delivering high-quality work to join our Sample Preparation Team FTS is one of Analytical Expert Laboratory's four companies, and you will be joining a dedicated, professional group committed to supporting accurate and reliable laboratory analysis.
This interesting and fast-paced role provides much variation in the day-to-day support of processing of case samples. Because we provide full, in-house training, we are excited to employ people from a range of different scientific backgrounds and offer opportunities for progression within the company.
This is a hands on role, supporting our Laboratory Technician and Sample Preparation Assistants in ensuring the Sample Preparation Department runs efficiently.

FTS provide expert drug and alcohol reports to support family law court proceedings. We are the leading company in our sector, holding best practice status.
Our GOAL is to ensure the safety of children across the country from drug and alcohol abuse in the home.
What will you do in this role?
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our Laboratory Technician within Sample Reception. These responsibilities will include receipting case samples and ensuring our Sample Preparation Assistants have the equipment and materials they need to work efficiently. You will also assist the wider team by carrying out a range of tasks involved in sample processing.
Our laboratory operates to strict SOPs and in accordance with UKAS ISO/IEC Accuracy is essential, you will be expected to carry out all work diligently, conforming to strict anti-contamination procedures. Strong attention to detail is therefore a must.

What you need
- Have a determined attitude toward learning and continuous self-development
- Utmost attention to detail
- High numeracy and communication skills to record observations and data accurately
- A high level of dexterity and precision in helping to prepare client samples
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- BSc in relevant discipline (E.g. Forensics, Biological, Biomedical) (required)
- Experience working in a professional laboratory working to ISO/IEC 17025 standards (desired)
Schedule:
Monday to Friday (occasional weekend availability when required)
37.5 hours per week
