Role Overview
My client is seeking a highly skilled
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
with a strong background in motors or rotating machinery. This individual will play a key role in the design and development of next-generation electromechanical systems. The role includes leading mechanical design work, supporting technical decision-making, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of motor assemblies, rotating equipment, and associated subsystems.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct stress, thermal, and structural analysis to validate component and system performance.
- Engage with suppliers on component selection, manufacturability, and cost optimisation.
- Participate in design reviews, offering expert insight into mechanical considerations.
- Support prototype builds, testing, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement work.
- Ensure compliance with relevant mechanical engineering standards and safety requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in
mechanical design
within motors, rotating machinery, or similar electromechanical environments. - Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor or equivalent).
- Excellent understanding of materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and mechanical analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical engineering approach.
- Ability to work effectively on-site and collaborate with engineering and production teams.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with prototype development and test validation.
- Familiarity with FEA tools and simulation workflows.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to justify technical decisions clearly.
