We're looking for a PMO Support Officer - Interested?
Do you want a role where you're recognised for what you do, given the opportunity to thrive and have the chance to be the best version of yourself? Interested in joining a great organisation with an employee offer and experience that rivals others? Are you looking for a new challenge? If so, please keep reading as you're just what we're looking for
The team…
You'll join our Regeneration & Major Projects team, working in the newly established group PMO function. The PMO is the engine room for delivery; a central hub that brings structure, clarity, and confidence to some of Gateshead's most ambitious major projects across the Economy Innovation and Growth group.
We're a small, collaborative team with a big remit: supporting multi-million-pound capital projects that transform places and improve lives. Our role is to make sure projects run smoothly, risks are managed, and decision-makers have the right information at the right time.
You'll work alongside passionate delivery professionals from regeneration, transport, housing, and energy, as well as many other services across the council including finance, legal, and communications colleagues.
It's a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and where your contribution will make a visible difference to the future of Gateshead.
About the role….
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established PMO that spans all tiers of the group – portfolio, programmes, and projects. This function has been created to bring structure, clarity, and confidence to the delivery of Gateshead's most ambitious capital projects.
Your knowledge and expertise will matter. As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll have a genuine voice in shaping how we work – from refining processes to improving reporting and assurance. We're building something new, and your ideas will help us get it right.
You'll support the PMO in implementing our emerging corporate governance and control frameworks, NECA's Single Assurance Framework, and national standards including the Functional Standard for Project Delivery and Teal Book principles. Working closely with delivery colleagues, you'll help maintain accurate project records and produce clear, insightful reports that inform risk-based decision-making. You'll collaborate across housing, transport, energy, and regeneration projects, alongside corporate colleagues in finance, legal, and communications.
If you want to be part of a team that's making a difference and have the chance to influence how we do things this role offers that opportunity, along with variety, learning, and the satisfaction of contributing to projects that change places and improve lives.
