Location: Newport

About the Role
This role leads the entire operation of Little Kingdom Soft Play. You will manage the team, drive commercial performance, oversee rotas and procedures, and ensure exceptional guest experiences every day. The role requires strong management experience, commercial awareness, and the ability to shape how the venue grows, performs, and engages its community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day running of Little Kingdom with full managerial oversight.
- Manage opening and closing procedures, ensuring the venue is safe, organised, and ready for trade.
- Maintain and develop operational procedures, ensuring consistent standards across all shifts.
- Provide clear direction to staff during busy periods and ensure smooth session flow.
2. Staff Management & Direction
- Manage, lead, and motivate the Soft Play Team to deliver consistently high standards.
- Produce and manage staff rotas, aligning labour planning with customer demand and commercial targets.
- Conduct staff briefings, performance check-ins, and coaching to develop capability and accountability.
- Oversee staff training, inductions, and adherence to company policies and operating procedures.
- Address performance or conduct issues promptly and professionally.
3. Customer Experience
- Maintain a strong, visible presence on the floor, ensuring families feel welcomed and supported.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints with confidence and professionalism.
- Oversee birthday parties, group bookings, and events, ensuring smooth delivery and commercial success.
- Monitor customer flow, session timings, and queue management systems for efficiency.
4. Commercial & Marketing Contribution
- Contribute to commercial strategy, including pricing, occupancy targets, party sales, and upselling.
- Review daily and weekly performance data, identifying opportunities to increase revenue or reduce costs.
- Support marketing activity by providing ideas, feedback, and content opportunities to the central team.
- Ensure promotions, seasonal events, and special campaigns are delivered consistently and effectively.
- Maintain high venue standards to encourage repeat visits and positive reviews.
5. Soft Play Operations
- Oversee daily safety checks, equipment inspections, and venue cleanliness.
- Ensure all equipment and play areas remain safe, well-maintained, and compliant with regulations.
- Manage maintenance reporting and follow-up actions, ensuring issues are resolved promptly.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding and incident reporting standards.
6. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Lead a safety-first culture across the venue.
- Ensure all health & safety, food hygiene, safeguarding, and risk assessments are followed and documented.
- Maintain correct record-keeping for inspections, incidents, and operational checklists.
- Support the team in understanding their responsibilities around safety and compliance.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven management experience within soft play, leisure, hospitality, or family entertainment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to set direction and build a high-performing team.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and experience contributing to business performance.
- Understanding of marketing, customer engagement, and venue promotion.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety, safeguarding, and operational standards.
- Confident decision-maker with a calm and structured approach under pressure.
- Flexibility to work weekends, school holidays, and occasional evenings.
- Enhanced DBS.
Desirable
- Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Food Hygiene, or willingness to complete.
- Experience delivering children's parties or events.
- Familiarity with booking systems, tills, and digital customer management tools.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £28,000.00-£31,500.00 per year
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
