A creative studio is seeking a talented set designer to collaborate on the development of a modular set system for our podcast and video recording spaces. The goal is to move beyond traditional preset studio designs by creating an environment where creators can easily customise and personalise their set within our studios. This project involves designing flexible wall, lighting, and furniture components that can be quickly reconfigured, supporting visually distinct yet cohesive themes adaptable for multiple brands or creator identities. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of creative vision and practical operational insight, ensuring that studio staff can efficiently change set looks with minimal turnaround time. Integration of digital elements such as LED screens, projection, or app-based lighting control for enhanced personalisation is a key aspect of this role. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of adaptable studio environments and collaborate on a pilot studio implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Design a modular set system with reconfigurable wall, lighting, and furniture elements for podcast and video studios
  • Develop visually distinct yet cohesive themes suitable for a variety of brands and creator identities
  • Ensure all components are practical for rapid setup and breakdown by studio staff
  • Integrate digital elements such as LED screens, projection, and app-based lighting control for enhanced personalisation
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and pilot studio requirements
  • Provide detailed design documentation, material specifications, and operational guidelines
  • Present design concepts and iterate based on feedback to achieve optimal creative and functional outcomes

Skills And Requirements

  • Proven experience in modular or multi-use set design, ideally within studio, event, or broadcast environments
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative flexibility and production efficiency
  • Expertise in spatial design, lighting, and furniture systems
  • Familiarity with digital integration (LED, projection, app-based controls) in set environments
  • Ability to balance creative vision with operational practicality
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Availability to discuss project scope, timelines, and pilot implementation
  • Based in a location accessible to Outset Studio or able to work remotely with periodic on-site visits
