We are looking for a Band 5 Children's nurse; with experience or an interest in Haematology Nursing and who is ready to undertake more role responsibilities and to complement our existing nursing team.

You will have the opportunity to work within our dynamic and friendly Haematology/Oncology and Paediatric Bone Marrow Unit. Grand Union is a 13-bedded acute paediatric haematology ward with four Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplant facilities and in addition a 2-bedded Apheresis Bay.

The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide high quality care to children with a variety of conditions including:

  1. Sickle Cell Anaemia

  2. Beta Thalassaemia

  3. Diamond Blackfan Anaemia

  4. Gene Therapy

  5. Bone Marrow Transplant

  6. Bone Marrow Failures

  7. Apheresis Programme

  8. Oncological Emergencies

Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standards.

In conjunction with the staff team contribute to developing and maintaining a ward /department philosophy and model of care.

To demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. To work towards promoting this to others.

To be aware of, and to work towards actively participating in the Trust's framework of clinical governance within the ward or department area, seeking advice or guidance where necessary.

Identify and report clinical risks so that appropriate action can be taken in accordance with the Trust risk management policy.
