At Grandir UK, we are seeking an IT Support Engineer (Field-based) to provide hands-on technical support and lead technology deployments across our network of nursery settings. This field-based role is key to ensuring our sites remain operational, secure, and equipped with reliable technology.

We are currently transitioning our IT support model from fully outsourced to a hybrid model with an internal IT support team.

We are also a successful and growing business via our acquisition growth strategy, and expanding our nursery settings consistently.

This is a field based role with regular onsite visits across our nurseries, alongside the opportunity to work from home and within our support office.

You'll be part of a growing internal IT team, working closely with the Service Desk Team Leader and other stakeholders to deliver excellent onsite and remote support, and contribute to wider IT initiatives.

What you will be doing

  • Providing remote troubleshooting and support for broadband connectivity, computer issues, hardware faults, etc.
  • Responding to onsite technical issues including network outages, hardware failures, and connectivity problems.
  • Installing and upgrading networking equipment, computers, and connectivity services, across our nursery sites.
  • Conducting site visits to assess and document IT setups, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • Supporting proactive initiatives such as site refreshes, hardware lifecycle management, and technology rollouts.
  • Collaborating with the Service Desk Team Leader to ensure seamless handoff between remote and onsite support.
  • Maintaining and updating our internal documentation platform.
  • Liaising with technology partners, nursery managers and staff, to ensure minimal disruption during support visits.
  • Ensuring compliance with cyber security best-practices and safeguarding policies.
  • Supporting onboarding of new nursery acquisitions.

What we are looking for

You'll have a solid background in hands-on IT support, with experience working across multiple sites. You'll be confident managing your own schedule, communicating clearly with non-technical users, and delivering high-quality support and deployments.

Essential qualifications & skills

  • Proven experience in field-based IT support or deployment roles.
  • Good understanding of networking principles (Wi-Fi, switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across hardware and software.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a dynamic workload across multiple sites.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Experience maintaining technical documentation.
  • Full UK driving license, own vehicle and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent workload and time-management skills.
  • Able to successfully pass an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable qualifications & skills

  • Experience with UniFi equipment, including routers, switches and access points.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organisations.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools and service desk processes.
  • Project delivery experience (e.g. site refreshes, hardware rollouts).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCP).
  • Experience in childcare, education, or similar regulated environments.
