Nightshift Care Assistants – Newlands Care Home, Dunfermline

£13.10–£13.60 per hour with paid breaks (which is equivalent to £14.55–£15.10 with unpaid breaks)

Newlands Care Home is a small, family-run home in Dunfermline, and we are looking for a night shift care assistant to join out team.

  • Guaranteed set shifts (with the option of additional shifts if you want them)on an alternating two week rota. Week 1 - Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, Week 2 - Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Permanent hours available after probation (30hrs)
  • A thorough induction and shadowing programme over several weeks so you feel confident in your role. Training initially would be done on dayshift 7am - 6pm.
  • Ongoing training and development, and the opportunity to progress to Senior Care Assistant for the right person

About the role

  • Nightshift runs 10pm–8am (occasional 8pm starts)
  • You will be rostered on sets shifts with a two week alternating rota
  • You'll provide personal care, reassurance and support to residents, ensuring their dignity, comfort and safety at all times
  • This is a physically demanding role and requires a good level of fitness and good time-keeping
  • Flexibility is important – additional shifts may be available to cover absence or holidays
  • We can also offer dayshifts to gain additional shifts should the candidate be available

What we're looking for

  • Reliability is essential – our residents depend on us, so we are looking for people with a strong work ethic, low sickness levels, and a commitment to being part of the team
  • Previous care experience (ideally in a care home and/or nightshift)
  • A caring, friendly and respectful approach – able to put residents at ease
  • Patience, resilience and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations
  • Strong communication skills and a good sense of humour
  • Commitment to completing SVQ2 (if not already held) within 3 years

It's preferable that candidates live locally or have their own transport. Please check public transport options for nightshift before applying.

  • PVG membership (we can arrange this if needed)
  • SSSC registration within 3 months of starting (we will support you with this)
