CAD Technician – Pre-Construction

About the Role

At Harmony Fire, our work saves lives. As a
CAD Technician
within our Pre-Construction team, you will play a key role in producing accurate technical drawings that underpin the success of every project. By translating design calculations and layouts into precise 2D and 3D drawings, you will provide the clarity and consistency that gives our clients confidence in our professionalism and technical capability.

This is a detail-driven role requiring speed, accuracy, and collaboration. Working closely with designers and estimators, you will ensure every drawing is presented with precision and reflects the requirements of each project — from mechanical and electrical systems to sprinklers and fire protection layouts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings for mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler installations
  • Translate design calculations and layouts into detailed technical drawings for pre-construction and bid packages
  • Coordinate services with architectural and structural constraints to ensure buildable solutions
  • Maintain drawing standards, ensuring consistency, precision, and professional presentation
  • Manage drawing revisions, including version control, file naming, and record-keeping
  • Support estimators by providing drawing outputs that aid in quantity take-offs and accurate costing
  • Assist with the preparation of professional bid packages and technical submissions
  • Collaborate closely with designers and estimators to ensure all drawings reflect project requirements and quantities
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of CAD standards and workflows within the team

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience producing technical drawings in a construction, M&E, or fire protection environment
  • Strong CAD skills (2D essential; 3D desirable), with the ability to produce clear, accurate layouts under time pressure
  • Knowledge of building services, including mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler systems
  • Sharp attention to detail with a
    do it right first time
    attitude
  • Highly organised, with strong version control and documentation discipline
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines and manage drawing revisions effectively
  • A collaborative mindset — comfortable working with estimators, designers, and project managers
  • Ambitious, proactive, and keen to develop within a growing pre-construction team
