About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex structural projects from concept through to construction, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the ongoing technical excellence of our practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects (squarely focusing on steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems as appropriate).
  • Manage project teams, including task delegation, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Interface with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design intent, budget, and schedule are met.
  • Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and design reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., British Standards, Eurocodes, building regulations & local regulations) and perform risk assessments.
  • Perform structural analysis and modelling (e.g., Revit Structure, Tekla etc. as applicable).
  • Conduct design reviews, value engineering, and constructability analyses.
  • Lead quality assurance and coordination efforts across design disciplines (M&E, civil, geotechnical).
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainable design (e.g., material optimisation, lifecycle assessment, resilient design).
  • Support business development with technical proposals and client presentations.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer or equivalent (e.g., M.I.Struct.E, MICE etc.). (Preferred not essential).
  • Hands-on structural engineering experience with a track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds & Scale).
  • Strong knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the UK.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure.
