The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead research on the Mindfulness for Life research programme

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working with the postholder expected to attend the office in person at least 50% of the time.

About the Role

The post is funded for 3 years and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.

Working closely with Professor Willem Kuyken and an interdisciplinary team, you will design, implement, and evaluate research that scales evidence-based mindfulness globally. This includes development and refinement of MBCT-based interventions across diverse populations and settings. We use translational science that emphasizes accessibility, trauma sensitivity, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, implementation and long-term impact.

About You

You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD/DPhil in psychology, public health, psychiatry or related discipline with a strong publication record in mental health/mindfulness research. Demonstrable experience of designing and conducting translational research is essential as is knowledge and expertise in patient and public involvement and engagement. Experience of designing and running trials and working in Low- and Middle-Income Countries or multicultural settings would be desirable.
