Interim Senior Project Manager

Based in London, hybrid working – days TBC

Length: 3 months

We're looking for an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of major capital works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Senior Project Manager:

· Manage a portfolio of high-value capital projects, coordinating internal teams, service partners, and stakeholders

· Scope project requirements, prepare briefs, undertake procurement, and lead consultation processes

· Ensure compliance with Council policies, statutory regulations, and financial procedures throughout project delivery

· Provide expert advice on construction project management and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership

· Deliver accurate reporting and progress updates, including Cabinet reports and briefing papers

· Oversee project handovers, ensuring assets meet specifications and operational readiness standards

· Monitor contractor performance and implement measures to ensure delivery against time, cost, and quality targets

Skills, experience and knowledge required of the Interim Senior Project Manager:

· Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience, plus a recognised project/programme management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM)

· Extensive experience managing major capital works projects within a public sector environment – ideally within a local authority

· Strong knowledge of statutory regulations, codes of practice, and compliance requirements

· Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships

· Excellent financial and programme management skills, with a track record of delivering projects to agreed outcomes
