At Bachus & Schanker, LLC, we've built our reputation over decades on delivering relentless advocacy and client-first service in personal injury, workers' compensation, medical malpractice, and class action litigation across Colorado and Wyoming.

We operate on a "no upfront fee" model, clients only pay if we win, which makes our financial processes and accounting integrity absolutely critical to sustaining our mission. Located in multiple offices across CO and serving clients statewide (and in Cheyenne, WY), we are seeking an experienced and trustworthy Accounting Supervisor to join our operations and be the guardian of financial rigor behind the scenes.

As Accounting Supervisor, you'll be the right hand of our finance and operations leadership, ensuring billing, receivables, vendor management, financial reporting, and internal controls all function with clarity and accuracy. You will oversee a team handling high volume transactions, help lead the integration of our accounting systems with our CRM, and act as a point of escalation for financial questions or discrepancies. This role is perfect for someone who thrives behind the scenes, with strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to manage complex workflows in a fast-paced legal environment.

What you'll do:

  • Transaction & Billing Oversight: Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensure invoices are accurate and timely, reconcile client trust accounts when applicable, and oversee settlement accounting.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and variance analysis. Provide insights to leadership on revenue trends and cost drivers.
  • System Integration & Automation: Lead the integration between accounting software (QuickBooks Online/Desktop, , or others) and the firm's CRM/case management system. Drive automation where possible to reduce manual work.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Implement, document, and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and audit procedures. Work with external auditors or CPA partners to support year-end audits.
  • Team Leadership & Training: Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff. Establish training, standard operating procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Vendor & Banking Relations: Oversee vendor contracts, vendor payments, credit terms, and banking relationships. Resolve billing disputes or discrepancies as needed.
  • Issue Resolution & Escalation: Serve as the financial go-to person for internal teams: resolve discrepancies, investigate red flags, and escalate critical financial issues to leadership.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Collaborate in annual budgeting, cash flow projections, and scenario planning. Provide financial modeling support to other teams (e.g. marketing, operations).

What we're looking for:

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional accounting experience, including several years in a high-volume, fast-paced environment such as a law firm, professional services company, or similar. Proven success managing complex reconciliations, trust accounting, and financial reporting in a multi-entity or high-transaction setting.
  • CPA Status: CPA certification is not required, but someone who is actively pursuing CPA credentials or on the path to certification is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online/Desktop and , with the ability to manage integrations between accounting systems and CRMs or case management tools. Advanced Excel and data analysis experience preferred.
  • Financial Expertise: Strong understanding of GAAP principles, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Adept at maintaining accuracy under pressure while ensuring compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise accounting or finance staff. Encourages collaboration while holding the team accountable to deadlines and standards of excellence.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and data validation abilities. Naturally curious and able to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and process gaps.
  • Integrity & Accountability: Highly trustworthy, ethical, and consistent. Understands the importance of financial accuracy in a contingency-based legal model and treats every transaction with care and precision.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear and confident communicator with attorneys, partners, vendors, and external CPA firms. Capable of translating complex financial data into actionable insights for leadership.

Why you should work here:

  • Mission-driven firm: Your work supports a practice that fights for justice, representing injured individuals and their families across Colorado and Wyoming.
  • Scale & Impact: You'll operate in an environment with large settlements and high transaction volumes, your accuracy and leadership will materially impact the firm's stability.
  • Growth potential: As the firm expands, you'll have the opportunity to shape financial systems, influence high-level strategy, and grow into senior leadership.
  • Collaborative culture: The firm values integrity, accountability, and open communication. You'll be respected as a trusted partner in operations, not just a back-office function.

Additional perks:

  • Compensation: $95,000 – $110,000 (depending on experience and CPA status).
  • Location: Primarily onsite at the firm's downtown Denver office, with the option to work remotely one day per week in a partial hybrid arrangement.
  • Hours & Benefits: Standard business hours with occasional flexibility during high-volume periods; generous benefits including health, retirement, PTO, etc.

At Bachus & Schanker, LLC, your role as Accounting Supervisor is more than managing books, it's about reinforcing the financial foundation that powers life-changing legal outcomes. With high-stakes personal injury cases and settlements reaching into the millions each month, your expertise will ensure that every transaction is precise, compliant, and aligned with the firm's mission to serve clients with excellence and integrity.

This is an opportunity to lead with both numbers and nuance. You'll step into a firm that values mentorship, growth, and accountability, where your skills will not only keep operations running smoothly but also support a culture of transparency, trust, and continuous improvement. Join us in shaping the financial systems that sustain justice.
