Purpose:

Manage Indirect tax for the Group in line with the group tax strategy.

Support the team with ad hoc projects

Core Accountabilities:

  • Manage all (excluding US) Indirect/VAT requirements for the group to deliver timely and accurate filing of all necessary returns and payment of liabilities for the group.  Working with Tax Analyst and external advisers (external adviser support varies by Country)  
  • Support the business to ensure indirect tax issues arising from commercial decisions are identified and addressed and tax issues resolved
  • Support Asia office with VAT issues
  • Manage the SAO compliance process for VAT, ensuring procedures robust & documented and periodic sample testing carried out.
  • Keep up to date with tax legislation changes & industry developments, assess the impact upon the business & work collaboratively with the business on any changes required
  • Support with reporting of indirect tax position – focus on cashflow reporting for the group
  • Work closely with the AR and AP teams to ensure transactions and processes are VAT compliant, issues identified and guidance issued
  • Review, develop and improve tax processes/operations to create efficiency, this includes maintaining and improving the spreadsheet workbooks used to prepare the VAT Returns from the ERP VAT Rpt downloads

Skills Knowledge & Experience:

  • Tax specialist requires knowledge which is consistently used. In some areas will work with autonomy and in others provide support to the Group Director of External Reporting and Accounting and the wider team.
  • Accounting and Tax qualifications and/or relevant extensive experience in industry
  • Excellent communication skills with a commercial and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Experience of working autonomously on multiple projects and to deadlines.
  • Effective management of Tax Analyst
  • Strong analytical and economic analysis skills for data interpretation.
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail
  • Extensive business systems and spreadsheet knowledge
