We are looking to recruit a Student Services Adviser (Student Wellbeing) to join our team on a part time, temporary maternity cover basis.
The Student Wellbeing Service provides support to students who have encountered difficulties due to mental health, emotional wellbeing and/or welfare issues. The service has Wellbeing Advisers, Mental health Advisers and Counsellors who work with students, led by the Student Services Manager.
You will play a crucial role in the delivery of support to students. Working alongside your colleagues you will provide person-centred interventions, information, advice and guidance to students through one-to-one appointments and group interventions. You will work with the individual to identify the challenges they are facing and the support options that will enable them to move forward and successfully re-engage with their studies.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have significant vocational experience and be able to demonstrate your capabilities in delivering mental health interventions to students. As an excellent communicator, you will be able to establish positive working relationships with students, as well as with your colleagues and other stakeholders who support students during their time at university.
The role also necessitates that you can undertake the administrative aspects; competently using IT systems, including your capabilities to keep accurate case records of sensitive information in our digital case recording system.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).
This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Regular status checks may also be required, depending on your role.
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months, however, as the post is linked to a maternity absence the end date is subject to change.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Leader, Stonewall Gold Award holder and Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
Informal enquiries are welcome to Emma Carpenter, Student Wellbeing Manager by emailing
If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 16 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
