Consultancy
– Strategic energy advice, portfolio assessments, feasibility studies and business case development that help clients make informed decisions.

Project Manager, Delivery

Main Purpose of the Role:

As a Project Manager within Syzygy's Delivery team, you will take end-to-end responsibility for delivering renewable energy projects of all sizes, focusing specifically on the Delivery stages from Procurement through to Practical Completion. You will ensure projects meet client objectives, are delivered on time and on budget, and achieve exceptional standards of quality, safety and performance. A key part of the role is ensuring full compliance with Syzygy's internal processes, systems and corporate policies.

Key Accountabilities:

Project Delivery

You will lead the delivery of renewable energy projects through the construction phase, taking ownership of all activities from contractor tendering and procurement to commissioning, handover and completion. Responsibilities include:

Tendering & Procurement

  • Developing tailored procurement strategies that align with client and project needs.
  • Preparing Invitations to Tender and full Contract Packs, including Employer's Requirements.
  • Working with clients and their solicitors to agree the appropriate form of contract, negotiate amendments and secure contract award.
  • Evaluating tender responses, producing clear tender evaluation reports and making informed recommendations.
  • Managing the production and ongoing development of Employer's Requirements and construction contracts.

Contract Administration

Acting as Employer's Agent or Contract Administrator, including:

  • Managing contractor performance and day-to-day contract administration.
  • Issuing instructions, reviewing valuations and administering payment processes.
  • Managing variations, change control and extension-of-time assessments.
  • Overseeing snagging, defects resolution, commissioning and handover (coordinating with the Asset Management team where required).
  • Managing Practical Completion and the full Defects Liability Period.
  • Ensuring all completion, certification and documentation processes are followed.

Project Management & Governance

  • Delivering projects to agreed time, cost, quality and safety targets.
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed project records for audit and contract administration purposes.
  • Leading key project meetings, including preparation of agendas, chairing meetings and issuing minutes.
  • Ensuring all project activities follow Syzygy's systems, processes and H&S requirements.

Reporting

You will operate as part of the Project Delivery Team, reporting to the Associate Director or Head of Project Delivery, and working collaboratively with colleagues across Development, Asset Management and wider business functions.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Degree-educated in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience delivering on-site projects within renewables, construction, engineering or infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of Solar PV, BESS, and associated technologies.
  • Knowledge of grid applications and connection processes.
  • Proven experience administering construction or engineering contracts (JCT, ICE, FIDIC, NEC).
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to work within the UK.

Desirable

  • Client account management experience.
  • Working towards or holding a relevant professional qualification (APM, RICS, CIOB etc).
  • Experience working in EU markets and/or the ability to speak a European language.
