Salary: £35,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week (with potential evening/weekend work – paid overtime)

Are you a skilled multi-trade professional looking for a rewarding role where your work makes a real difference? YMCA St Helens is seeking a Multi-Trade Operative to join our Facilities team and help maintain safe, high-quality homes for our residents.

What you'll do:

  • · Deliver responsive and planned maintenance across our social housing stock.
  • Carry out a range of repairs including plumbing, joinery, plastering, tiling, decorating, and basic electrical work.
  • Ensure all work meets health and safety standards and internal policies.
  • Work professionally and empathetically with residents, minimising disruption.
  • Support the Facilities team and provide guidance to an apprentice (to be recruited within 12 months).

What we're looking for:

  • · Proven experience in a multi-trade role, ideally in social housing or similar settings.
  • Competence in at least three core trades (plumbing or electrical qualification preferred).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to customer service.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable:

  • Formal trade qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds).
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles.
