We are currently seeking a Head and Neck Nurses to join our CQC registered Field-Based Nursing Team. This is a field based role covering the South ans South and South-West of England.
About the role
This is fixed term contract for 12 months reporting directly to the Senior Lead Nurse. The role is field based and frequent travel within your geographical territory will be required. You will be required to build strong relationships and have frequent interaction with NHS clinicians as well as colleagues across all departments and teams.
You will have a strong nursing background with experience in looking after patients with laryngectomy and/or tracheostomy airways, and ideally have some commercial experience working within medical devices. This role will provide a consistently high quality, customer-focused service that matches the health needs of our customers. You will confidently and competently demonstrate the safe and effective use of laryngectomy and tracheostomy products within the community setting to optimise patient independence, enhancing the quality of life following a laryngectomy or tracheostomy procedure.
Your Responsibilities
- To support the delivery of high quality, patient focused home and community based care within in a specified regional area of responsibility.
- To provide education, support and advice for the prescribed products for each patient and to conduct Appliance Use Review's in accordance with national guidelines.
- To be an autonomous practitioner within professional boundaries and adhere to the Organisations policies and procedures, as well as those of the Nursing & Midwifery Council and Care Quality Commission.
- To support and participate in regular audits.
- To support the development of new models of care and new business for the organisation.
- To work collaboratively and maintain close working relationships with other healthcare professionals in the NHS.
- Share clinical knowledge and advice, where appropriate, with others within the organisation, to ensure correct care is delivered by the appropriate member of staff.
- To maintain own professional credibility, accountability and development.
- To represent the organisation with stakeholders, referrers, and other business clients.
- To initiate, establish and foster collaborative working relationships with the acute hospital teams, in order to effectively promote and create opportunities for growth of the Atos Care Nursing Service.
- Ensure clinical records are consistent and well documented at all levels in line with data protection and security policies.
- Pro-actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and motivate others to do the same.
- Build trust and strong relationships with all departments across the business.
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of your territory.
- Contribute for the Nursing Team at regular meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews with Territory Managers, Customer Care and Clinical Education teams.
About you
- Active NMC registration with a minimum of 3 years' nursing experience.
- Practical experience within the acute care or community care sector as a registered practitioner (preferably ENT/ITU/HDU-based experience).
- Clinical experience and skills in laryngectomy and tracheostomy.
- Able to understand, recognise and manage an airway emergency for patients who breathe through a tracheostoma.
- A curiosity and desire to further enhance clinical knowledge, understanding and competence, particularly in relation to laryngectomy and tracheostomy, within the nursing team.
- To establish and develop a designated geographical area, ensuring pipeline of referrals for the nursing service.
- Understanding and experience working with and in the NHS.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence and ability to collaborate with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Autonomous, highly organised and time efficient.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives at once.
- Excellent understanding of IT systems/packages.
- Positive and can-do attitude even when times are tough.
