Are you looking to take your current Project Management skills to the next level?

If so, we're looking for a Senior Project Manager (IT) to join as part of our Projects and Portfolio Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall scoping, planning and leadership in highly complex business transformation programmes. You will be a great communicator and have the ability and experience to hit the ground running. The role can be based nationwide but will involve regular travel to either our London or Gloucester offices.

Position Description

You will be responsible for delivering IT projects which may have either an infrastructure/security or application development/implementation as their primary focus. You will be working as part of a growing project management team within Pro and will be helping to shape the team including by involved in mentoring and development of colleagues as the team grows.

Core Skill Areas and Responsibilities

  • Project management knowledge/experience (c. 5 + years), including;

  • Planning and organising skills, proficient in the use of MS Project or equivalent to create and maintain project plans

  • Project budgeting skills – managing to budget, forecasting and budget setting
  • Stakeholder management, using strong communication skills, to be assertive and able to challenge others if required
  • Experience of leading and motivating multi-discipline, multi-location virtual teams
  • Resource coordination and management
  • PRINCE2 and/or Agile accreditations

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar position and solid track record of leading and delivering business critical, complex or large-scale projects with multiple workstreams

  • Experience in managing system, organisational or other business change resulting from project delivery.

  • IT Infrastructure and Security technical project experience including:

  • familiarity with Azure Cloud Services
  • aligning projects with existing or new disaster recovery or BCP processes
  • working within required information security and control structures and other organisational standards
  • implementing required operational standards around environment management e.g. backups, monitoring, patching,
  • handover of technical projects into a support organisation including

  • IT Application development or implementation project experience including:

  • application upgrade projects
  • experience of business process reviews and analysis
  • system audits of technologies implemented
  • working within required information security and control structures and other organisational standards
  • implementing required operational standards around application management e.g. backups, monitoring, patching, ongoing development standards
  • handover of application projects into a support organisation

  • Commitment to ongoing personal development e.g. maintaining accreditations, attending relevant training, educational events or workshops

  • Strong team player, with positive attitude to challenges or change, leading by example and contributing to overall team development and success through activities such as mentoring.

Desirable skills and responsibilities

  • Familiar with (re)insurance terminology used by different business areas (claims, underwriting, finance, etc)
  • Demonstrable experience of managing large scale test plans
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Jira or other systems used in software development

Written and verbal competencies ­­

  • Excellent and demonstrable written and verbal communication skills
  • Results orientated - focus on improving performance, meeting goals, producing results.
  • Strong influencing, persuasion and negotiation skills to achieve desired outcomes; experienced in resistance or conflict management.
  • Good MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Visio, Outlook).
