Location:

Contract Type:
Full time, Permanent (37 hours per week)
Salary:

At Delt Shared Services, we help our customers do amazing things - and strong information governance sits at the heart of that. We're looking for a Customer Information Governance Specialist to provide expert, independent guidance and support to our customers, ensuring they meet their obligations under data protection legislation and wider information governance standards.
This is a role for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety and building trusted relationships. You'll be the go-to specialist for your allocated customers, helping them navigate complex IG requirements with confidence and clarity.
What you'll do
- Give customers clear, independent guidance on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act, Caldicott principles and wider IG standards.
- Lead the development and monitoring of customer compliance, translating legislative changes into practical actions.
- Work autonomously; planning your workload, responding to customer needs and building strong, trusted relationships.
- Provide specialist support on DPIAs, SARs, breach reviews and complex multi-party investigations.
- Advise on incident assessment and reporting through the DSP Toolkit, including escalation to NHS England or the ICO where required.
- Act as the customer's point of contact for the ICO to ensure responses are timely, accurate and compliant.
- Collaborate with DPOs and other service areas, supporting training, toolkit submissions, project work and post-incident improvements.
- Help customers maintain robust Records of Processing Activities (Data Mapping).
- Create engaging awareness materials - newsletters, posters, lunch-and-learns - that bring Information Governance to life.
- Keep customers informed by monitoring updates from NHS England, the ICO and other relevant bodies.
- Provide cover for colleagues and deliver additional duties as needed to support the team.
What you'll bring
- CIPP/E (or working towards it), or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Expert understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and related health sector legislation.
- Experience or strong insight into NHS environments, ideally General Practice.
- The confidence to work independently, organise your workload and take ownership of customer relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – the ability to get to the heart of issues quickly.
- Excellent communication skills, whether presenting, advising or guiding customers through complex decisions.
- Exceptional customer service and the ability to build trust at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Devon to various customer sites.
