We're seeking a Credit Controller / Assistant Accountant to take ownership of our credit control function and help shape its future. This is more than a credit control role – for the right candidate, there's clear potential to progress into an Assistant Management Accountant position as you help us streamline and automate processes, freeing up time for broader finance responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Take full ownership of credit control, ensuring procedures are followed internally and externally

  • Review and improve current credit control processes, introducing automation where possible

  • Maintain accurate customer information in finance systems

  • Upload invoices/credits to invoice discounting facility

  • Prepare monthly Sales Ledger Control Account reconciliations for our invoice discounting supplier

  • Daily bank reconciliations across group companies and manage intercompany transfers

  • Monitor daily cash flow and forecast payments and receipts

  • Assist with VAT returns, pensions, balance sheet reconciliations, and other finance tasks

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in credit control

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Good Excel skills and adaptability to new finance systems

  • A proactive mindset with an interest in process improvement and automation

Hours and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (£30k–£34k DOE)

  • 40 hours per week

  • 22 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
