Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and stimulating Food Technology lessons (KS3, KS4): Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, incorporating interactive activities, practical demonstrations, and real-world applications of food technology.
  • Develop culinary skills: Guide students in mastering essential culinary skills, including food hygiene, safe food handling practices, knife skills, recipe interpretation, and cooking techniques.
  • Foster creativity and exploration: Encourage students to experiment with different flavors, ingredients, and cuisines, fostering their creativity and developing their own culinary style.
  • Contribute to curriculum development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the Food Technology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with national requirements and reflects current trends in food and nutrition.
  • Build positive student relationships: Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to learn.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment for students to learn and thrive.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Food Technology Teacher with a proven track record: Possess a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a successful track record of teaching Food Technology at the secondary level.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for food and cooking: Demonstrate a deep understanding of food science, nutrition, culinary techniques, and food safety practices. Share your passion for food and inspire students to explore the culinary world.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and ability to cater to diverse learners: Employ a variety of teaching strategies to engage students with different learning styles and abilities, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed.
