Overview

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Workers to provide high-quality support to individuals in need of assistance. The role involves working with clients in various settings, including community and private residences. As a Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those you care for by offering personal care, companionship, and support tailored to their individual needs.

Duties

  • Provide personal care to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming (personal care).
  • Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation and feeding.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in condition.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a trusting relationship.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies as needed for clients with specific challenges.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for clients by adhering to health and safety protocols.

Skills

  • Experience in assisted living, community or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of patient care practices, including dementia care and Alzheimer's care.
  • Familiarity with hospice care principles is an asset.
  • Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide compassionate support to seniors or individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in first aid and emergency response techniques is beneficial.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred for roles requiring transportation of clients.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
