In this brand new role, as Head of Social Impact, you will be the driving force behind Kingfisher's mission to create positive change for people and communities. Leading our Social Impact agenda, you'll champion initiatives across Communities, Human Rights, Inclusion & Diversity, and Social Mobility—embedding these ambitions into every part of our business. Working closely with retail banners and Group functions, you'll shape strategies that bring our 2030 Responsible Business goals to life and deliver on our purpose: Better homes, better lives for everyone.



What's the job?

Strategic direction:

  • Shape and align Group-wide ambitions and programmes for Communities, Human Rights, I&D and Social Mobility.
  • Lead the co-creation of programmes, targets and governance for Social Mobility and I&D, including 2030 ambitions/targets, together with the People Leaders (HRDs/COEs etc)
  • Maintain strategic oversight of community engagement and disaster response.
  • Evolve the Human Rights strategy in line with regulation and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure banner co-creation so strategies are locally relevant and Group-aligned, and support activating our purpose.
  • Maintain simple, effective governance structures (e.g., I&D forum) and clear ways of working
Stakeholder engagement:
  • Bring together the communities of practice across the social impact topics
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships (HR, Corporate Affairs, Comms, O&S, GNFR, Talent).
  • Embed social impact into employee experience, talent processes, and communications.
  • Amplify Group-wide social impact stories internally and externally.
Partnering and thought leadership
  • Develop strategic partnerships with NGOs, experts, and external organisations and represent Kingfisher in relevant forums.
  • Bring external insights, trends, and provocations to challenge and advance thinking.
  • Strengthen storytelling on social mobility and broader social impact.
Measurement & reporting:
  • Oversee the definition of KPIs, baselines and methodologies for social impact areas and the creation of tools and processes that drive consistency and build maturity across the Group.
  • Oversee annual ESG and programme reporting, including targets such as apprenticeships and Gender Pay reporting requirements.
  • Oversee Group community programmes, budget management, and annual reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with global standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., CSDDD).
Team leadership:
  • Work closely with other Responsible Business leads to deliver the 2030 strategy.
  • Contribute to function-level strategic planning (e.g., 3YP).
  • Lead and develop direct reports.


What you'll bring

  • Strong track record of corporate responsibility leadership experience and passion for/ expertise in the topics
  • Translates thinking into simple, tangible solutions bringing a pragmatic approach, versus theory driven or perfectionist
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills, thriving in a matrix global organisation where partnership is critical to drive new thinking and practice
  • Being able to demonstrate agility and prioritisation, for example in response to external changes
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, especially at senior levels and strong written communication skills (e.g. board reports),
  • Technical expertise across the areas and experience in data-driven programme design and impact measurement an asset
