A warm and informal family in Harpenden are seeking a part-time, self-employed Housekeeper/Cook. The household consists of two adults and their one-year-old toddler, living in a four-bedroom house across three floors. The family are looking for someone kind, flexible, and child-friendly who will become a trusted part of their home. The workload is steady and predictable, and the household values someone who can help keep the home tidy, manage laundry and ironing, prepare simple family meals, and assist with household organisation.

We are seeking a kind, flexible, and child-friendly Housekeeper/Cook who will become a trusted and valued member of the household. The role involves maintaining a consistently high standard of cleanliness throughout the home, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and careful upkeep of delicate surfaces such as marble countertops. Laundry management will include washing, ironing, folding, and organising clothing and linens, with an emphasis on eco-friendly products.

The Housekeeper/Cook will also manage batch cooking and prepare family dinners, including toddler-appropriate dishes that are low in salt and mild in spices. Meal planning will be straightforward and family-focused; additional responsibilities include managing household supplies, keeping cupboards stocked with toiletries, cleaning products, and groceries, and liaising with maintenance workers or service providers when required. Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook:         

• Regular cleaning of all rooms, including dusting, vacuuming, and maintaining floors
  
• Ensuring bathrooms and kitchen remain hygienic and organised
  
• Laundry management, including washing, ironing, folding, and organisation
  
• Use of eco-friendly products throughout the household
  
• Careful handling of marble surfaces in the kitchen
  
• Batch cooking and meal preparation, including toddler-appropriate meals
  
• Household supply management (toiletries, cleaning products, groceries)
  
• Running errands and liaising with maintenance workers when required
  
• Maintaining a structured, tidy, and welcoming home environment 
  

Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper job:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant private housekeeping experience
  
• Two excellent checkable references
  
• Legal right to work in the UK
  
• Ability to work on a self-employed basis
  
• Conversational level of English
  
• A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is a bonus
