Job Description

Join Our Growing Defence Team at Assystem – Project Planner Opportunity

As our Defence account continues to expand, Assystem is on the lookout for a dynamic and self-motivated Project Planner to help drive successful project delivery within our evolving Project Management Office (PMO).

Partnering closely with our Defence Project Managers, you'll play a key role as the go-to expert for all planning activities across our Defence portfolio. If you're passionate about delivering complex, high-impact projects – we want to hear from you

Location: Any Assystem UK office

Working Model: Hybrid – flexible mix of home and office working, with ad-hoc travel to client and Assystem offices

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Planning – Develop and manage schedules internally and with clients

  • Coordinate Work Packages – Track progress, plan resources, and manage sub-contractor activities

  • Approve Sub-Contractor Programmes – Review for quality and alignment with overall schedule

  • Stakeholder Interface – Monitor and report on project progress, changes, risks, and opportunities

  • Support Proposals – Provide input on planning and manhour estimates for future work

  • Deliver Reporting – Produce accurate metrics, including critical path analysis, for the Defence Infrastructure Lead Team

What You Bring

  • Primavera P6 Proficiency – Intermediate level (must-have)

  • Tech-Savvy – Confident in MS Office, particularly Excel and MS Project

  • Detail-Oriented & Driven – Self-motivated, deadline-focused, and thrives with minimal supervision

  • Clear Communicator – Able to summarise complex data clearly and confidently

  • Analytical Eye – Skilled at assessing sub-contractor inputs and programme accuracy

  • Precision Focused – Accuracy and attention to detail are second nature

Qualifications

Your Qualifications

  • Degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • Primavera P6 training completed

  • Project Management certification (e.g. APM) is a plus

Your Experience

  • Proven experience as a Project Planner on NEC4 contracts, particularly Options A & C (essential)

  • Strong background in major infrastructure design and build projects (desirable)

  • Experience in the Nuclear or Defence Industry is a major advantage

Home office location can be Derby, Sunderland, Glasgow, Blackburn or Bristol
