We're on the hunt for a talented and enthusiastic Data Engineer to join our fantastic Data team in Sunderland. This isn't just a job; it's a chance to solve fascinating technical challenges
What you'll be getting up to (a glimpse into your new role)You'll be a key part of shaping the future of our data team across the whole of our business. A typical day might look like this:
- Writing SQL queries and Python (PySpark) scripts for robust data pipelines and modelling.
- Building and optimizing data systems and pipelines (using tools like Airflow and dbt).
- Preparing, analysing, and structuring data for critical reporting systems used by Management.
- Collaborating with analysts and data scientists to build algorithms and support predictive modelling.
- Exploring ways to enhance data quality and reliability and combine raw information from different sources.
We're looking for someone who is a creative problem-solver and passionate about data integrity.
The Must-Haves:
- Expertise in SQL Query language and Python programming/scripting.
- Strong experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and data warehouses like Redshift or bigquery
- Experience of pyspark and airflow
- Ability to analyse, organize, and prepare raw data for reporting and modelling.
The Nice-to-Haves (bonus points if you have these):
- Hands-on experience with dbt. for modelling and transformation.
- Ability to develop analytical tools and prototypes.
