We are also the largest charitable funder of Parkinson's research in Europe and have invested over £130m in vital research that has delivered groundbreaking discoveries, new medications and better care. Our bold and innovative approach includes Parkinson's Research Ventures (PRV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Parkinson's UK that takes a venture philanthropy model to accelerate drug discovery and development.

Through PRV, we run the Virtual Biotech Programme, the UK's only drug discovery and development initiative dedicated solely to Parkinson's. By working with leading researchers, biotech companies and investors, we can ensure promising ideas are translated into new treatments as quickly and effectively as possible

Could you be an Independent Director for Parkinson's Research Ventures (PRV)?

In 2018, we established Parkinson's Research Ventures Limited (PRV) as a vehicle through which many of the financing and IP transactions for the Virtual Biotech Programme would be pursued.

The Board comprises a number of senior industry professionals and experts with deep knowledge in the drug discovery and development process. To complement our collective skillset, we are looking to appoint a new Independent Director with senior-level biotech or pharma experience in medicinal chemistry.

Alongside fellow Directors, you will help guide our work by:

  • evaluating new research projects
  • advising on investment decisions
  • reviewing portfolio performance
  • suggesting new investment opportunities
