Contract Manager – Externals, SHDF & Retrofit Works

Location:
Wembley (Office-based with site travel)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Contract Manager
to join a growing organisation delivering high-quality
external refurbishment, SHDF schemes, and retrofit works
within the social housing sector.

We are looking for a motivated, technically strong, and commercially aware leader who can manage projects end-to-end, ensure full compliance, and drive excellent performance across multiple live schemes.

The Role

As a Contract Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of
externals, energy-efficiency measures, and SHDF/retrofit programmes
, ensuring all works meet the required quality, sustainability, and safety standards.

You will work closely with operational teams, retrofit specialists, supply chain partners, and client representatives to ensure KPIs are achieved, compliance standards are met, and projects are delivered efficiently and to programme.

This is a hands-on role involving site visits, team leadership, client interface, and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery of
    external refurbishment, SHDF and retrofit projects
  • Ensure works are completed to PAS 2030/2035 standards (where applicable)
  • Manage performance across all KPIs including quality, safety, customer satisfaction and programme
  • Prepare mobilisation plans, progress reports, H&S documentation, and audit compliance records
  • Ensure materials, labour, and supply chain resources are effectively managed
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, residents, subcontractors and internal teams
  • Enforce all QEMS, environmental, and health & safety processes
  • Produce and update detailed programmes of work and communicate changes to all stakeholders
  • Provide leadership and coaching to operational teams, ensuring high performance
  • Conduct supply chain reviews and manage subcontractor performance
  • Drive continuous improvement across delivery, compliance, and customer experience

About You

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Proven experience delivering
    externals, retrofit, EWI, roofing, cladding, or SHDF/energy efficiency
    projects
  • Strong understanding of social housing standards, compliance, and retrofit regulations
  • Good working knowledge of construction processes and contract management
  • Proficient with MS Project and general IT systems

Qualifications:

  • SMSTS
  • IOSH
  • NVQ Level 6 or equivalent (desirable)
  • Retrofit-related training/certifications (advantage but not essential)
