Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented TECHNICIAN/MOT Tester to join our team. MOT license preferred but not essential. Wage as advertised depending on experience plus uncapped department bonus.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and be proficient in the use of hand and power tools. As a TECHNICIAN/MOT Tester, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections on vehicles to ensure they meet safety and environmental standards. Carry out general service related work as well as sales preparation. This role requires a commitment to quality and attention to detail, as well as the ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary.

Duties

  • Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicles, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Perform detailed inspections of vehicle components, including brakes, lights, steering, and suspension systems.
  • Carry out servicing of vehicles to manufacturers standards.
  • Carry out general mechanical repairs.
  • Use hand tools and power tools effectively to carry out repairs or adjustments as required.
  • Document test results accurately and provide feedback to vehicle owners regarding necessary repairs or maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.

Experience

  • Proven mechanical knowledge is essential for this role, with experience in automotive repair or maintenance preferred.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools is required for effective testing and repairs.
  • Previous experience in conducting MOT tests or similar inspections is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as part of the testing process is necessary.
