Job Title: Material Planner - Apprentice

Reports To: Production Planner

Direct Reports: None

Main Purpose of Role:

The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement, delivery, and planning of materials and components required for production. This role supports the production planner by maintaining optimal inventory levels, forecasting material needs based on production schedules, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure consistent supply.

Main List of Activities

  • Run reports to identify material requirements for production based on forecasts and customer orders
  • Ordering of materials for use in production process
  • Monitor masterbatch stock levels and order as required
  • Compare materials used reports against actual materials used
  • Monitor cartons/sleeves stock levels and place orders as required
  • Provide timely updates to internal team on material status and potential delays
  • Liaise with suppliers on orders/delivery dates
  • Monitor supplier stock and call in as required
  • Use Chep portal to order/plan Chep pallet deliveries
  • Calculate pallet requirements and place orders
  • Use Sage to raise purchase order numbers
  • Update material prices on Sage
  • Log prices for each order placed
  • Calculate the quantity of poly bags needed for each month and schedule orders as required
  • Book in materials delivered
  • Book out masterbatch used
  • Book out labels used
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies
  • Monthly stock take
  • Update stock levels in warehouse management system (Delta)
  • Use label database to monitor label stock levels and order as required
  • Update label database as required
  • Keep Mattec updated with material codes used
  • Update production database with any new material codes
  • Liaise with material controller on daily cartons/sleeve requirements
  • Complete monthly stock take paperwork for material controller
  • Assist with planning duties when required
  • Deputies for the Production Planner when required
  • Administration duties when needed.
