General Factory Operative

Location: Earl Shilton, Leicestershire LE9

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 39 hours per week

Pay: National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage (starting rate)

About the Role

We are looking for a dependable and enthusiastic individual to join our production team as a General Factory Operative. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role where you'll be fully trained in certain aspects of the manufacturing process for pointe shoes.

No previous experience is required — just a good work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trim loose threads around the binding and insoles of pointe shoes.
  • Scrape away excess paste from shoes and insoles.
  • Cover gaps with the correct sock linings.
  • Glue sock liners to complete the finished pointe shoe.
  • Use small hand tools such as embroidery scissors, knives, and hammers.
  • Follow instructions carefully and learn each stage of the socking process.
  • Work with glue, brushes, and heat presses safely and efficiently.
  • Report any visible faults to Checkers or Supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workstation.
  • Meet daily production targets in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Duties

  • Bonding work using a heat press.
  • Hand sewing.
  • Assisting with shipments and packing.

Working Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

(includes one 30-minute lunch break and two 10-minute breaks)

  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM

(includes one 10-minute break)

Total: 39 hours per week (guaranteed)
