aims to provide access to music for as many children as possible through partnerships with primary schools. We offer high-quality instrumental tuition and a variety of extracurricular opportunities that enrich a school's creative curriculum. To date, we have taught over 100,000 music lessons to thousands of children in schools across London. As a not-for-profit organisation, our vision is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn an instrument at the highest level, irrespective of their background.

Role Description

We are looking for enthusiastic music club practitioners to join
Pelican Music

, teaching children predominantly between years old. We provide a range of after school music clubs to our partner schools, and our clubs feed directly into providing instrumental opportunities for our students. We're particularly looking for teachers to deliver the following clubs:

  • Musical Explorers (Reception-Year 1)
  • Musical Adventurers (Year 2-Year 3)
  • Musical Theatre (Year 3-Year 6)
  • Songwriting (Year 3-Year 6)

The practitioner will be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring music sessions, planning and preparation of sessions, and maintaining a positive learning environment. They will also communicate with the Pelican team, parents/guardians and school staff regarding student progress.
All clubs come with training on classroom management as well as resources. 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Have or be studying towards a degree in
    Music, Actor Musicianship or related subjects

, or hold DipABRSM or similar in teaching
- An enhanced DBS
- Grade 8 or equivalent standard on your first instrument
- Competency in music theory, improvisation and sight reading
- A clean criminal record
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be a member of the
Musicians Union
,
 Incorporated Society of Musicians,
or have your own public liability insurance

  • A proficiency with keyboard skills is also seen as a positive
  • Outreach experience or great interest in outreach work
