Mechanical Engineer

As part of an integrated product team, you will contribute to all stages of product development—from initial concept through to final delivery. This role requires a proactive engineer who thrives on solving challenging problems and delivering robust, high-quality designs.
Key Responsibilities
Work alongside and support the Principal Mechanical Engineer to:
- Design and develop mechanical enclosures for demanding environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical requirements.
- Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant defence standards and customer requirements.
- Experience in utilising Design for Assembly (DFA) practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in enclosure design for defence (harsh or marine) environments.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling, assembly structuring, and drawing creation.
- Strong SolidWorks Structural Simulation (FEA) skills.
- Working knowledge of PDM.
- Previous experience of using IFS (highly desirable).
- Experience of creepage and clearance requirements for electrical safety and insulation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and corrosion protection strategies.
- Basic understanding of GD&T.
- Knowledge and understanding of material selection for harsh conditions.
