Role Description

This full-time, on-site role is located in the City of Westminster. As a Property Standards Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing property maintenance regulations, conducting site inspections, and addressing complaints related to property standards. You will ensure compliance with municipal codes, issue permits or violation notices when necessary, and provide guidance to property owners on maintaining compliance. Additionally, you will prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with other city departments and stakeholders to support community safety and aesthetic standards.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of property maintenance codes, municipal regulations, and enforcement procedures
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear instructions and resolve conflicts
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing issues and identifying effective solutions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and preparing reports
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on-site within community environments
  • Experience managing customer interactions professionally and providing excellent public service
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for recordkeeping and documentation
  • A valid driver's license
  • Previous experience in property standards enforcement, code compliance, or a related field is preferred
  • Relevant certifications or training in property standards, code enforcement, or public safety would be an asset
