St Christopher's Care Home is a highly respected, sought after care home set in beautiful grounds opposite Abington Park, Northampton. We are looking for a cook with a proven track record who has great culinary skills.

This is a Full time post and you will be required to work every other weekend.

Ideally you will have experience of working in a care home setting.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare, deliver and serve food to residents as part of the cooking rota ensuring it is appetising, well presented and the right temperature
  • Serve food to the residents in a professional, polite and caring manner
  • Assist the senior chef in managing stocks of food and supplies for the whole of the catering operation
  • Ensure equipment supplied is used with care, in accordance with suppliers' instructions and training and report any faults or safety issues to the senior chef immediately.
  • Abide by all cleaning, food hygiene and health & safety standards, ensuring the kitchen is fully cleaned at the end of each meal time
  • In the absence of the Senior chef, supervise other catering staff ensuring they are working in a professional, caring manner and abiding by all policies and procedures of the Home staff

Required knowledge & experience:

· NVQ in Professional Cookery or equivalent desirable / willingness to undertake.

· Knowledge of Health & safety procedures including COSHH, HACCP and Allergens.

· Knowledge of dietary requirements for older people, IDDSI diets, and the impact of food types on medication.

· Working with fresh seasonal produce.

Required skills:

· Able to negotiate, influence, organise time and prioritise activities.

· Able to work in a pressured environment and produce meals based on implemented menus.

· Flexible, innovative and able to work as part of a team and individually.
