A leading literary and publishing agency, representing a wide range of acclaimed authors and creators, is seeking an experienced professional to manage all aspects of client accounts and royalties within its Finance team.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role at the heart of a respected literary agency, supporting a diverse list of leading authors. You'll combine financial precision with creativity, influence how royalties and client finances are managed, and contribute to the continued success of a business that champions exceptional storytelling and talent.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this pivotal role oversees author and licensee royalties, client accounting, and financial reporting across a dynamic and creative business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day royalties and client account operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Supervise and support junior staff, maintaining strong controls and reconciliation processes.
  • Oversee royalty statement processing, advances, commissions, and payments.
  • Review statements against contract terms, royalty rates, and currencies.
  • Liaise with publishers, sub-agents, and licensees to resolve queries and reconcile accounts.
  • Act as a senior contact for authors, agents, and the Foreign Rights team.
  • Manage multi-currency cashbooks, reconciliations, and author payment runs.
  • Deliver clear royalty analyses and reports while driving process and system improvements.

About You

  • Experience in royalties or client accounting within publishing, a literary agency, or rights-based business.
  • Strong understanding of author and licensee contracts and royalty flows.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and numeracy, with strong Excel and financial systems skills.
