ROLE OVERVIEW

The financial planner will be a primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a cohort of high-net-worth clients. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in financial planning, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for guiding clients through complex financial decisions. The financial planner is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive, goals-based financial plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client relationship management

  • Build strong, long-term relationships with clients, acting as their principal financial planner and educator.
  • Hold regular planning meetings to review objectives, revise assumptions, and present updated financial projections.
  • Act as the central coordinator for the client's financial affairs, liaising with external professionals (accountants, solicitors) to ensure cohesive advice.

Comprehensive financial planning

  • Gather and analyse complex client financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, insurance, and existing legal documents (wills, trusts).
  • Design and deliver customised financial plans covering core areas:

Retirement modelling and cash flow analysis.

Advanced tax planning and tax-efficient distribution strategies.

Estate planning review and recommendations.

Risk management (insurance needs analysis).

Education funding and charitable giving strategies.

  • Utilise financial planning software (e.g CashCalc,Defaqto) to model various scenarios and illustrate trade-offs.

Investment strategy and implementation

  • Work closely with the investment committee or portfolio managers to align client portfolios with their risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and plan objectives
  • Clearly articulate investment rationale, market performance, and strategy adjustments to clients.
  • Facilitate the account opening and transition process for new clients.

Business development and firm growth

  • Participate in new business acquisition by presenting the firm's planning value proposition to prospects.
  • Assist in creating educational content (articles, webinars) to enhance the firm's brand presence.
  • Maintain a high standard of compliance, documentation, and regulatory adherence.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to help people achieve financial wellbeing
  • Strong ethical standards and a client-first mindset
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to build a successful career in wealth planning
  • Chartered or working toward chartered status is a plus, but not essential
