We empower a diverse community of members and businesses to produce incredible work in a safe, collaborative, and inspiring environment.
The Role
We're looking for experienced Workshop Technicians to join our busy team, working alongside full-time technicians and a dedicated maintenance engineer.
You'll play a key role in keeping our shared workshops running smoothly — maintaining and setting up machinery, supporting member training, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and technical quality across all departments.
This is a hands-on, problem-solving role for someone with strong workshop experience, great people skills, and a love for all things making.

· Manage stock levels of spare parts and consumables using our inventory system.
· Support machine setups and safe transitions between users.
· Health & Safety Compliance

· Promote best practice in safe working methods across all users and teams.
· Training & User Certification
· Deliver structured, high-quality training for members on safe machine use.
· Support user certification processes and record training activity.
· Coordinate bookings and training schedules with the wider technician team.
· Operations & Continuous Improvement
· Identify and report operational challenges, proposing creative solutions.
· Support improvements to workshop layout, tooling, and workflows.
· Contribute to developing an outstanding member experience through technical excellence.
Key Requirements
· Essential Skills & Experience
· Strong background in making, manufacturing, or workshop operations.
· Knowledge of machine maintenance, repair, and preventative servicing.
· Confident understanding of workshop health & safety regulations.
· Organised and process-driven with strong communication skills.
· Competent in maintenance tracking and booking systems (e.g. MaintainX).
· Experience delivering or supporting technical training sessions.
· Proactive, reliable, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
· Desirable Skills & Experience
· Experience working in an open-access, shared, or educational workshop environment.
· Broad understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and multi-disciplinary workflows.
