Prestbury SK, United Kingdom THE KINGS SCHOOL Full time

This role is to start in October 2025 and provides administrative support to the school's Music Department and reports to the Director of Music. The appointee will be expected to work independently and show considerable initiative.

This post would suit an enthusiastic and committed administrator with strong interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills. Knowledge of school systems would be an advantage, but is not a requirement as a full induction would be provided. A positive mindset and the willingness to learn and adapt are more important.

As Music Department Administrator, the appointee will have responsibility for:

  • Overseeing and co-ordinating music enquiries from a wide range of stakeholders, acting as first point of contact for the Department;
  • Administration of Music Department trips, events and concerts;
  • Supporting the Graduate Music Assistant and Visiting Music Teachers in timetabling of weekly music lessons (including exam rehearsals) for pupils across the Foundation (including maintaining relevant databases, using scheduling software e.g. SOCS, communicating scheduling guidelines, timetables and other events which might affect pupils' availability);
  • Coordinating/processing applications for music lessons and working closely with the Director of Music to support Visiting Music Teachers (e.g. recruitment, induction, ongoing support);
  • Administering the Year 4 Ensemble Instruments scheme; issuing communications, coordinating/processing applications, ongoing support;
  • Collating entries for music exams (instrumental/singing/theory exams);
  • Entering students for ABRSM music exams;
  • Coordinating and overseeing any music exam sessions taking place on-site (e.g. liaising with examiners, managing the 'examination room');
  • Administering the management and maintenance of instruments/instrument stock (e.g. pianos) and other resources as appropriate;
  • Coordinating the booking of Music Department spaces including practice rooms and the Recital Hall;
  • Assisting with further departmental administration, such as attending departmental meetings, minute-taking as appropriate;
  • Supporting the Director of Music with administration as required;
  • To attend and support Music Department events as appropriate including evening events (by arrangement with the Director of Music).
  • Ad hoc admin support to the Visiting LAMDA Drama Teachers working across the school as required

This role could be worked alongside the Database Administrator role to make 1 full-time role (37.5 hours per week).

For more information, such as person specification, please view the attached job pack. If you're successful in the first round of recruitment, you will be sent a further, more in depth application form from The Kings School to assess your suitability.
