This is a critical role at the heart of Rimes' engineering operations, where you will help shape and support the systems that power our data-driven solutions. You'll work across physical and virtual environments, contributing to the reliability, scalability, and performance of our infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative and forward thinking team, where innovation and operational excellence are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimise resource utilisation, performance, and cost efficiency across virtual and physical systems.
  • Lead VMware infrastructure operations including provisioning, performance tuning, snapshot management, and lifecycle maintenance across ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
  • Ensure effective VMware resource allocation and cluster health, supporting high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Drive data center organisation and restructuring initiatives, including rack layout optimisation, cable management, hardware lifecycle planning, and environmental monitoring.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning to support business growth and infrastructure scalability.

Reliability & Monitoring

  • Ensure high availability, security, and observability of systems through best practices in reliability and recoverability.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring systems to ensure compliance with service level objectives.
  • Lead and contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and resolution of infrastructure issues.

Project Delivery & Innovation

  • Collaborate on infrastructure projects to support new services and platform enhancements.
  • Build and support production systems for SaaS and data delivery platforms.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and standards to support operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience managing physical datacenter infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, and networking.
  • Strong proficiency in VMware virtualisation technologies.
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server 2019/2022 and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Hands on experience with enterprise networking equipment (Cisco, HP).
  • Experience building and supporting production systems for SaaS and data delivery platforms.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft MCP/MCSE, or Cisco CCNA/CCNP are highly desirable.

Professional Skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Only selected candidates will be contacted for interviews. We appreciate your understanding. Thank you for considering a career with us.
