The Export Control/Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all international trade activities comply with applicable import, export, x-trade export control, customs and trade regulations. This role involves monitoring and implementation of regulatory changes, classifying export controlled goods, managing due diligence documentation compliance reviews and record-keeping, and coordinating with internal teams and government agencies to maintain compliance with trade, customs Export control and internal shipping rules and regulations.
The job also includes adherence to the NKTP Internal Compliance Program, as well as to identity ICP upgrades and to be part of the ICP implementations and audit project teams.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures compliance with local and international trade regulations, including export control and sanctions, by developing and maintaining licensing frameworks and securing the necessary export control licences.
Reviews, and due diligence on import/export/x-trade documentation. Maintain records in accordance with internal policies and government regulations. Collaborates with A&D, shipping, procurement, legal, and operations teams to ensure compliant trade, customs and export control activities. Coordinates with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers and government agencies as needed. Monitors and audit shipments for compliance and investigate potential trade, customs and export control compliance violations. Export Control license management, assists with licensing requirements and submit applications. Monitors and process incoming trade, export control and customs mails and highlight potential problem areas to manager.
Stays current with changes in trade, export control and customs laws and advise the business on the impact of regulatory updates. Follows company procedures and maintains up to date knowledge on processes to minimise the risks to the company of breaching regulations.
Export control, trade and customs analyses and reporting.
Creates detailed due diligence DMS/SOP's on Export control, trade and customs.
Participate in trade, export control, customs compliance training and awareness, where applicable.
KEY INTERACTIONS
Purchasing, Product Management, A&D engineering teams including Project Managers, Sales, Shipping, Product line managers and other employees across the organization.
EXPECTATIONS
Contributes within the Global TC team. Manages own goals, objectives and KPIs, set forth by manager. Manages expectations in stakeholder groups, raising issues professionally to ensure cross collaboration, deadlines are met and process improvement. May work on projects in teams. Works within the team with impact across teams. Capable to work on your own, according to tasks and policies set forth, and to act as a bulldog when needed, in order to prevent violation of Export Control, Trade and customs rules and regulations.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Tertiary level education.
Export control Compliance certification a must .
Global trade and /or customs compliance certification a plus.
Some legal, business or freight forwarder education beneficial.
UK Export Control work experience mandatory.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Knowledge of UK export control rules and regulations a must.
Knowdge of and international trade, and customs regulations a plus.
Knowledge of Incoterms for shipping and insurance purposes a must.
Understanding of relevant export control and sanctions regulations and codes of practice and the risks of non-compliance mandatory a must. Good knowledge and experience of import/export shipment export control, trade compliance and customs procedures needed. Strong attention to detail, due diligence and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, verbally and written. Analytical and problem-solving capacity
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Min 5 years of experience in UK export control, and min 2 years of experience with global trade compliance.
Experience with Customs procedures and documents a plus, as well as experience in domestic/international freight excellence, eg. shipping demo's or high value goods via ATA-carnets, dangerous goods, RMA's etc.
Recent relevant experience of export control management a must , including but not limited to dual use/military licensing.
Experience with ERP D365 software and Spire is a plus.
Experience with excel, word and powerpoints mandatory.
Aerospace & Defense export control, trade, customs and freight excellence is big plus.
Experience with Internal Compliance programs a big plus.
Able to classify export controlled products in co-ordination together with our A&D team.
