We are recruiting four
Senior Investigation Officers
to join our Enhanced Case Management (ECM) Team. Due to the nature of the work, this role will suit someone with significant experience of conducting complex investigations. This is a hybrid role.

The team and the role

The ECM Team is in the Investigations directorate and carries out investigations with a focus on the most high-profile and complex complaints and reports of misconduct by those that we regulate.

The team works collaboratively with our Forensic Investigation and Legal & Enforcement teams to develop investigation strategies on complex matters. The team has dedicated legal advisers to support it and we often work with our external solicitors and with counsel.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in one of the following cohorts and use their experience to coordinate operational elements across the wider SRA, and support other team members to build experience and knowledge.

  1. SIO non-disclosure agreements / investment schemes cohort
  2. SIO bullying & harassment cohort
  3. SIO discrimination cohort
  4. SIO abusive litigation cohort

In addition to leading on complex investigations, the successful candidate will provide valuable support to the team, including:

  • The formulation of effective investigation strategy, working with the wider investigation and legal team, and the execution of that in the service of the SRA mission on cases within the specific cohort.
  • Drafting notices, witness statements and other key case documents, as well as supporting on complex process and disclosure issues
  • Quality assurance of documents and investigation findings prepared by Investigation Officers
  • Leading on developing, drafting and consolidating investigations guidance/resources relevant to the team and cohort of investigations
  • Leading and support team training, engagement and decision-making consistency across the cohort
  • Preparing, reviewing and presenting cases to legal case surgeries and/or senior management to ensure effective case progression
  • Collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to support the progression of cases and ensure high quality decision making and outcomes
  • Coaching and providing technical support and advice for individual Investigation Officers.

What we are looking for

  1. Excellent knowledge of the regulatory landscape and risk relating to one or more of the following areas - abusive litigation, discrimination, bullying & harassment, investment schemes/non-disclosure agreements.
  2. Proven experience in leading complex investigations and critically analysing information to make recommendations demonstrating risk-based judgment within a context relevant to one or more of the areas above.
  3. Proven experience and ability to draft and quality assure complex documents in an investigation / case working setting.
  4. Ability to assimilate information quickly and provide clear advice and case direction.
  5. Ability to collaborate with, influence, and constructively challenge internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Ability to provide coaching and guidance/feedback in a positive and constructive manner.

This is a hybrid role and we are recruiting for this role in our Birmingham, Cardiff, and London offices. You will be based in the office nearest to your location, with the expectation of working one to two days a week in the office and the remainder of the week from home.

The salary offer for this role is £46,305. For those eligible, an additional 10% London weighting allowance will apply. Additionally, we provide a generous flexible benefits package, an excellent defined contribution pension scheme and an additional 3% of annual basic salary upon successful completion of probation.
