Job Description:

The Learning Zone is seeking a passionate and experienced Construction Tutor to deliver NCFE qualification 601/1088/0 (Bricklaying , Plastering, Tiling and Carpentry) units. This exciting opportunity is part of our outreach programme, specifically designed for SEMH secondary school children. The successful candidate will play a vital role in encouraging young learners to develop practical skills in the construction industry and help guide them on their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver NCFE accredited construction courses from, including painting and decorating and carpentry units, to SEMH secondary school students 9:30am - 2:30pm Mon - Fri.
  • Tailor lessons to meet the individual needs of students and encourage hands-on, practical learning.
  • Promote positive engagement with students and foster a supportive and motivating learning environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain records of student progress and attendance.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to support students' personal development and educational growth.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • NCFE Reference Code 601/1088/0 in Construction Painting and Decorating, Carpentry.
  • Teaching Qualification: Minimum Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.
  • Assessor Qualification: (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/D33).
  • Experience working with SEMH students or within an alternative education setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry, specifically in Bricklaying, Plastering, Tiling and Carpentry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire students.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in delivering vocational courses to secondary school students or within an outreach programme.
  • Ability to use IT tools to enhance learning and assessments.
  • A commitment to personal development and continuous learning in education and training.
