This is a site-based role at Worthing with flexibility for hybrid working as needed.

To provide hands on engineering support to production for the improvement and maintenance of the Automation control systems and infrastructure for the Worthing site.

Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join GSK as a Senior Automation Engineer in the United Kingdom. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of automation systems to support manufacturing operations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and compliance. Responsibilities
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Technical expert for site automation equipment within the Worthing site.
  • Provide day to day automation support for production areas on site.
  • To own and deliver small Automation projects including costing, change control, planning, validation and delivery.
  • To deputise for Automation Manager and act as Site Automation Representative for global initiatives and meetings.
  • To own and deliver Cyber Security Standards, Requirements and Initiatives. Site representative for Cyber Security linked to Automation Systems.
  • Ensure Automation facilities and equipment are maintained and installed to meet site requirements.
  • Identify investment opportunities for automation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable GSK policies and procedures – GES, GQP/G, GQMPs.

Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • HNC/D or Degree level in Automation or related engineering discipline with strong experience in a pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • Proven ability to deliver small Automation based projects on time.
  • Proven ability to manage contractor/consultant staff.
  • Ability to deal confidently with a wide range of customers.
  • Experience in a wide range of Automation and control technologies.
  • Experience in Cyber Security.
  • Experience in a wide range of field and control instrumentation.

Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Proficient utilisation of software packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of S88, S95 and IEC1131.
  • Experience with networks Profibus, Fieldbus, Ethernet and Serial comms 485, RS232 etc.
