The Film and Photography Team is an award-winning, multi-faceted, full-service in house resource creating engaging content for the firm's audiences, internal and external, around the globe. The team has a broad range of expertise and experience and draw upon these to produce impactful films, animations, stills content and campaigns for the benefit of Baillie Gifford and its clients. The team collaborate with a range of other in-house teams and stakeholders as well as external suppliers and freelancers to deliver engaging and impactful media.

Purpose of RoleAs a Photography Producer/Photo Editor, you will produce all photography projects efficiently and to a consistently high standard as required by the Firm, working closely with internal stakeholders to achieve this (including working as the Photo Editor for 'Trust' magazine), utilising in-house and freelance/external resources. You'll also support production of film, live broadcast and audio productions with colleagues in the team, as required.

  • Gather client photography briefs and lead development on these, with relevant team members, on to the pitch/treatment stage for our internal clients. Field queries regarding projects across various levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Be the first point of contact for new, ad hoc, stills (and when required motion) enquiries/commissions. Manage this, with the support of others, as required, being able to pull in others as needed, depending on the enquiry (Development Producer, Creative Producer, Production Services Manager, Post-production Manager etc)
  • Responsible for the day-to-day tracking and administration of photography and other projects, liaising with stakeholders and assisting with the production needs of the team
  • Communication – first port of contact for all enquiries, dissemination of information to all stakeholders, briefings, and oversight of projects, ensuring information is shared swiftly and accurately. Manage team calendar, bookings, freelance resources, and external location scouting and hire
  • Data management, updating and tracking of assigned projects on  
  • Health & Safety, conducting risk assessments, communicating H&S information, ensuring H&S is adhered to on set
  • Art direction of shoots, providing guidance and development support to the photographers
  • Take initiative to expand relevant industry/software knowledge and skills and to share ideas to improve photography, creative design, production
  • Hire and purchase photography equipment as appropriate, using a cost/effect analysis to purchases
  • Strategic development of the photography output for the firm, looking to innovate and expand what is offered to the firm, working with the Development Producer if required
  • Take on the role of photographer as required
  • Support colleagues with film, live broadcast and audio productions as required including producing live action projects and following all processes and protocols for the work as set out by the team
  • Cover other Producer colleagues as required, including autocue operation (training can be provided)

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in Photography, Filmmaking or similar, or equivalent work experience

Your knowledge and experience:

  • Be a confident and clear communicator, able to effectively communicate ideas, plans etc to all levels of the business in response to gathered briefs
  • Strong organisational and time management skills - able to juggle multiple productions concurrently while keeping production notes regularly updated on production management software
  • Be highly adaptable, able to flex as the productions require and be able to think quickly while maintaining composure
  • Experience in/knowledge of RAMS and H&S documentation
  • Experience drawing up call sheets, processing of contracts, PO's etc
  • A history of working with and adhering to brand guidelines
  • Knowledge of/use of Capture One software (not mandatory, but preferable)

We're looking for a production-focussed Photography Producer/Photo Editor with a proven history of delivering stills (and preferably moving image) projects diligently and consistently to brief for their clients. They should have strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with the wider team, the firm's internal stakeholders and freelancers.
