The role

Post-doctoral researcher with modelling and experimental expertise to join Bristol Ultrasonics and Non-Destructive Testing research group and work on the Advanced Landing Gear project funded by the ATI.

What will you be doing?

The Advanced Landing Gear (ALG) project is a collaborative initiative between industry and academia funded by the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) to develop and combine new designs, methodologies, and technologies to accelerate and catalyse benefits for current and next generation of aircraft landing gear. The 3-year project is led by Safran Landing Systems with other industrial partners including the Manufacturing Technology Centre, TWI, TISICS, and Scientific Management International and academic partners at the Universities of Bristol, Sheffield, Cranfield, and Birmingham.

You will be based in the Ultrasonics and Non-destructive Testing (UNDT) research group in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol. You will undertake research to develop solutions that advance the state-of-the-art of Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) for landing gear. You will work in close collaboration with the ALG partners to integrate advanced NDE techniques into the manufacture and operation of future landing gear designs.

You should apply if

You will have a doctoral level qualification in a relevant mathematical, science or engineering subject and a track record of publication in leading journals. You will have demonstrable experience of experimentation, numerical simulation, and the application of rigorous mathematical methods to practical problems.
