Salaried GP – Brayford Medical Practice

Location: Brayford Medical Practice, Newland Health Centre, Lincoln LN1 1XP

Sessions: 6–8 sessions per week

Salary: £13,140 per session per year

Brayford Medical Practice is a vibrant, city-based family practice with a growing list size of over 10,800 patients. Rated "Good" by the CQC, we are a forward-thinking surgery seeking a motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will provide the full range of primary care services to our diverse patient population, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team including GPs, ANPs, nurses, HCAs, and administrative staff.

Practice Location: Brayford Medical Practice, Lincoln, LN1 1XP.

Hours: 6 – 8 sessions per week

Job description:

This post requires the holder to have an excellent understanding of and identification with the ethos of the Practice and to demonstrate this in their professional behaviour and their dealings with the public. The post holder is directly responsible to the Practice Manager for all organisational and administrative issues and the Partners for all clinical issues.

The post-holder will provide personal medical services, managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate
  • In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • To record clear and contemporaneous computer-based consultation notes to agreed standards using SYSTEM 1
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

PERSON SEPCIFICATION QULAIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

GMC registered

MBBS or equivalent medical degree

MRCGP inclusion on the Performers list

MPS/MIDUS/MDDUS membership

DBS Enhanced check

EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL

Worked within a UK GP Practice

Working in Primary Care in an area with significant health problems

EPS Prescribing

Computer literate Microsoft and clinical systems

SKILLS ESSENTIAL

Good communication on all levels

Ability to work on own initiative

Ability to work as part of a team

Patient sensitive

Honest

Ability to work in a highly confidential environment

Sensitive to patient issues

Ability to work in a crisis

Willingness to undertake continuing professional development

Full UK driving licence and use of a car
