We are seeking an experienced
Group HSE Manager
to lead our UK Safety, Health & Environmental strategy across two key manufacturing facilities. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with significant influence, ownership and visibility across the business.

The Role

As Group HSE Manager, you will be the organisation's
principal HSE authority
, responsible for ensuring full compliance with UK safety, health and environmental legislation while embedding a robust, proactive, safety-first culture. You will provide expert guidance to senior leaders, oversee critical risk management processes, and drive continuous improvement in a chemical/high-risk manufacturing environment.

You will:

  • Lead, implement and continuously improve the Group's HSE Management System (ISO 45001 & ISO
  • Govern risk assessments, COSHH, permit-to-work, contractor safety and the Management of Change (MoC) process.
  • Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and closure of corrective actions.
  • Drive process safety management across both sites, including HAZOP leadership and DSEAR governance.
  • Act as the company's environmental lead, covering waste management, emissions, effluent and water treatment compliance.
  • Own and report Group HSE KPIs, data, dashboards and Board-level performance updates.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, customer audits and ISO recertification activities as the formal HSE representative.
  • Deliver statutory and behavioural safety training, promoting engagement and accountability at all levels.

About You

We're looking for an HSE professional with the confidence, credibility and technical depth to influence at all levels—from shop floor to Board.

Essential:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Diploma preferred).
  • 3–5+ years' experience in an HSE role within chemical, process or high-risk manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S and Environmental legislation.
  • Experience with effluent/water treatment systems and hazardous waste controls.
  • Proven ability to lead audits, investigations and compliance reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or similar technical discipline.
  • ISO 14001 / 45001 implementation experience.
  • REACH/CLP familiarity.
  • Regulator interaction (EA, local authority, water authority).
  • COMAH experience (Lower Tier).

You'll be a visible leader who champions safe behaviours, builds strong relationships, and drives continuous improvement across both sites.
